Workvivo Zoom

Horizons is an incredible charity supporting thousands of individuals in Cork that have learning disabilities and autism. Workvivo tasked us with creating a brand video that showcases the great work that Horizons do in Cork.

When Workvivo approached us at Spicy Dog Media, they had a clear vision, they wanted to create a video that would connect with viewers. They wanted to tell a real story. One that would shine a light on the work of Horizons, a Cork-based charity supporting people with intellectual disabilities.

We spent time at the Horizons centre in the heart of Cork city, where we met Mary, a dedicated carer, and Derry, one of the much-loved residents. Derry isn’t just a character in this story, he is the story! Warm, charming and full of wit, Derry had always dreamed of one thing, traveling to Rome and meeting the Pope.

Our cameras rolled as we got a glimpse into daily life at Horizons, the conversations, the routines, the laughter, and the care. What stood out instantly was the genuine bond between the staff and the residents. It’s a place full of heart, and people like Mary are the reason why. Her dedication to Derry and the other residents goes beyond just being a job, it’s personal.

From Cork to Rome, we followed Mary and Derry’s journey. We filmed as they packed their bags, boarded their flight, and landed in the Italian Capital. Over the course of their trip, we walked the cobbled streets with them, captured their awe at the Vatican, and shared in the joy and disbelief on Derry’s face as he finally saw the Pope in person.

This wasn’t about ticking off a shot list. It was about being present, building trust, and letting the story unfold naturally. The result is a corporate video that feels more like a human story, and that’s exactly what it is. Workvivo wanted to celebrate connection and purpose in the workplace, and this project let us do that through the lens of real people doing extraordinary work.
