Spicy Dog Media were awarded a video production project in County Roscommon: The contract was to produce a number of videos to support a tourism campaign to showcase all that Roscommon County has to offer. https://vimeo.com/745161899
5 Shoot Days, 20 Locations, 15 Actors, 8 Final Videos + 1 Epic Team!
This video production in Roscommon involved working closely with various members of Roscommon County Council to ensure that their brief was delivered to its maximum potential. A key area of the brief was: Want to skip and see the finished video straight away?
- Showcase county Roscommon with a premium feel
- Showcase various activities suitable for all ages
- Make the video Engaging!
As there was a number of target markets within the one video we decided to opt for a comedic based approach. We found that using comedy would be a great way to engage viewers, and assure them that county Roscommon was THE best county in Ireland!
We’ve written a blog about how videos help brands growhttps://www.spicydogmedia.ie/2023/03/24/does-a-video-production-company-help-your-business-grow/
What challenges did we face, and how did we overcome them?
- Weather! Weather was most definitely our biggest challenge when it came to this shoot. We were working almost exclusively outdoors for our entire five day shoot. When rain was forecast we were tasked with rescheduling various locations, actors, and crew to accommodate an in-door shoot where rain wouldn’t be a factor. We also invested heavily in water-proof gear, protection, and we ensured we had our production vehicle that could shelter cast and crew from the rain if needed.
- Another challenge we faced early on in this project was casting and sourcing the right people and locations. Casting real people is never easy, and we always work with clients to make sure that we’ve got the right people for the job. We believe casting ‘real’ non experienced actors can be a challenge sometimes worth undertaking. ‘Real’ people tend to have more genuine and honest responses when it comes to experiencing things for the first time. We wanted our cast to genuinely enjoy themselves, and to showcase this enjoyment on camera.
